Tight

A player is said to be playing tight when s/he plays relatively fewer hands as compared to other players on the table. In scenarios where a tight player might have a remotely weaker hand, s/he will promptly fold and live to fight another day. As a result, bluffing against a tight player is an extremely effective style of play because they are extremely likely to fold if they have the slightest fear of owning the poorer hand.

It is quite important for players to play with strong hands against tight players as tight players only step in when they have strong hands and to go up against them, it requires a stronger proposition and loose play will always end up on the losing side.

Multi way pots, against tight players, do not require a player to have a strong hand. Even with a weak hand, a player may force a tight player into folding their hand, and thus taking the pot.
