Rail
A rail refers to the boundary structure that separates the audience from the field of play. When the term “watching from the rail” is used, it generally refers to a spectator. However, “going to the rail” usually means that a player has lost her/his entire stack and if s/he wants to be in the same room anymore, s/he will have to do so from behind the rail, as a spectator.
The rail is normally only present in tournaments where there are spectators watching the play unfold.
