Post dead

When a player leaves a table temporarily and then returns after missing a turn to put in a blind, in the rotation, s/he has to place a post dead bet to rejoin the game. This bet is worth the total of the small and the big blind wherein the small blind is considered as the dead blind whereas the large blind is live.

For e.g. in a game where the blinds are $2/$4, a player leaves and misses the chance when the big blind button lands on her/his seat. Upon return, the player can only get into the game after placing $6 as a post dead bet. In this bet, the $2 amount of the small blind is a dead blind and is not a part of the bet the player makes whereas the $4 amount is the big blind value, which is placed as a live bet and is considered a part of the player’s bet or call for that round.
