Live cards
Live cards are those cards that are said to possess the capability of improving one’s hand although it is only on the presumption that they are still available. These cards are said to have been not seen on any of the “up-cards” with any of the players and are therefore considered to be part of the game. This sort of situation normally occurs in stud poker games.
The situation is slightly different in the case of Hold’em games as a player is said to be holding live cards if matching either of the cards with something that turns up on the board ends up giving the player the lead. Live cards are normally used to describe a hand that is considered to be simply weak, yet, not dominated by another player or hand.
