Insurance
Insurance is basically a sort of deal between two or more players in a poker game. The deal basically aims at reducing the size of the pot proportionally, based roughly on the chances that each player has to win the pot. The deal can also be made to split the pot rather than play it out at the current size.
This sort of deal normally happens when there are still community cards waiting to come instead of after the entire hand has been played out.
There is another form of insurance that is open to all players, one where player A decides to place a side bet with player C, even while players B, D and E are still in the game. The bet is made by A with the belief that even if A loses the main pot, s/he does have the stronger hand as compared to B and therefore, will be able to win that pot, thus not leaving the game empty handed.
