Draw, drawing hand
A draw or drawing hand is said to be the hand that a poker player is dealt, which needs other cards to be of some value or strength for that player. The term basically means that the player is looking forward to complete her/his hand but is short of just a few cards which are probably going to turn up amongst the community cards.
If a player as an A-4-7-J, then as such, s/he has a very poor hand in seven-card stud. However, if all these cards are of the same suit, then the hand can be termed as a drawing hand as the player may be drawing for another card of the same suit.
A draw or drawing hand is, thus, the hand that a player attempts to complete by using other cards that are on the community card board. The hand does not have to win in the end to be termed as a drawing hand, it just needs to be complete.
