Double raise
In a no-limit or pot-limit game, a player may raise by any amount that is within the limits of the game’s rules. In such a case, when the player raises by the minimum limit in a no-limit game or exactly doubles the bet, it is known as a double-raise.
If a player, in a $2/$4 game, raises the pot by $8, then it is known as a double raise. Here the person not only calls the bet of $4, but also raises the pot by another $4, thereby putting in double the amount of the normal or minimum bet.
