Dealer’s choice is the name given to a game of poker wherein the dealer has the choice of picking the kind of hand that s/he wishes the players to play in. This basically refers to the variation that the dealer may choose to play in a particular round of poker. There is no fixed format and even though the theme of the game may not be so, player’s may decide together to allow the dealer to make a choice on the variation.

This form of play is common in home games although in some casinos, there are specific tables where dealer’s choice is applicable and players need to be ready to catch a surprise.
