Dark
Dark is another term that is used to replace the word blind and is used frequently in the same context. The whole concept behind dark or playing in the dark is that a player takes an action without actually viewing or receiving the information that s/he is entitled to. A clear example of this would be when a person receives the initial hand in a game of Texas Hold’em and without looking at the cards, decides to call in.
In such a case, even if the player is not on the Big or Small Blind button, s/he is effectively playing blind or playing in the dark, i.e. without knowing what those two cards are. Hence, the term playing in the “dark” is used as a synonym for an action carried out without knowledge that is otherwise open for the player to know.
