Check out

When faced with dismal cards, players may often choose to check out or fold their cards. Done on their own turn, this move is considered a little offensive to the other players mainly because a check out is slightly different from a fold in that there is no bet made against the player who is checking out. The player decides to check out even though s/he can simply check and go on with the game.

While in many circles, check outs are not uncommon or anything great for that matter; in many places checking out is considered equivalent to folding out of turn in terms of disrespect for the other players. Although it is permitted almost everywhere, it is considered very unsportsmanlike and is often treated with displeasure.
