When a person lines up for a draw to get a particular card that s/he may want, and gets it! It is known as a catch up. The term is commonly used when the required card turns up on the draw and the player completes the hand that s/he was looking for.

If a player has 4-7-8-5 and is hoping to “catch” a 6, and it turns up on the draw, then the player is said to have caught up with that 6.
