Buy short

This is a different version of buying into a game and is normally a practice in casinos. A buy short mainly refers to buying into a game with an amount that is lesser than the actual buy in amount. Tournaments are not known to allow buy shorts under any circumstances.

A buy short may be allowed only under special circumstances where a player may have just lost the enter buy in amount. It may also be allowed if the remaining players on the table agree to allow such a move. The concept is quite simple and if the buy in to a game is $40, then a player who just lost the entire buy in amount may be allowed to retry and enter the game again on a shorter buy in, say $36. There is no fixed reduction rate or percentage for a buy short and it is totally upon the discretion of the casino and the other players on the table around them.
