Bridge order

Bridge order is the term that mentions the order of superiority of the different suites of cards in card games. However, poker is completely neutral about suites and that basically means that a person getting a particular set in all diamonds, say, will not be superior or inferior to another player getting the same numbers, but in a different suite.

This means that a spades flush, a diamonds flush, a clubs flush or a hearts flush, all are equal in terms of ranking. However, at the beginning of the game, to find out the dealer or to determine the bring in bettor, cards are drawn and in such a case, the bridge order stands.

According to the Bridge order, Spades is the highest, followed by Hearts, which is in turn followed by Diamonds with Clubs bringing up the rear. An easy way to remember this sequence is that it runs in reverse alphabetical order although there probably was no intentional move or planning behind this feature.
