The board is the name given to the part of the table where the Flop, Turn and River cards are upturned. The area is normally a pre-assigned part of the table that, in competitions, is placed right in front of the dealer. In most cases of home-based games, where the dealer constantly changes as is supposed to, the board is formed by the center of the table where all the players can see clearly.

In a community card game, all the community cards are placed on a designated area marked as the board. This term is applicable to all forms of poker and in a stud game, the dealer places the cards on the board during each reveal.

The board is prevalent in both land-based and online games of poker, irrespective of the format of the game.
