Stop and go
A stop and go play refers to the tactic of betting into a player after that player has just raised. The act of betting into the player is a way of rebuffing the aggression showed by the second player in raising the bet. For e.g. player A makes a bet into the pot following which, player B raises the bet. In return, player B just makes the call and sends the hand into the next betting round. In the next betting round, if player A again bets into player B, then player A is said to make a stop and go move.
The idea is that after making a bet into an opponent, a player stops the betting action and simply calls. However, once the betting round is over, the player gets back into the betting action again.
Stop and go takes a new meaning in tournament play where the blinds and antes are really high. At such a stage, a player may decide to go all-in after the flop, irrespective of what appears in the flop. In such a scenario, the player first raises pre-flop and then, goes all-in after the flop. This sort of strategy is also known as stop and go.
