To set-up a deck of cards usually means the process of displaying to the players that all the cards are present in the deck. The deck is ordered by suit and rank and kept in front of the players. The order is usually from King to Ace while the suits are in the order Spades, Hearts, Clubs and Diamonds. Set-up decks are common n casinos especially when introducing a new deck of cards to the players.

Before the first shuffle is made, all the cards are spread out face up in front of the players for them to ensure that the deck is complete. Once that is determined, the dealer proceeds to shuffling the cards before dealing.
