Pot-limit
Pot-limit games in poker, refer to the type of game where a player cannot raise more than the value of the pot at that particular moment of time. The size of the pot is determined by the chips collected from the previous round, or the starting pot for that particular round as well as any previous action made in the current betting round by any player. The pot also includes a call made by the player making the raise.
If in a game with betting amounts at $5/$10, if the pot value, from all of the above, is $60, then a player may make a maximum raise of up to $60 only. Once that raise is made, the pot amount becomes $120 and that means that the subsequent player may raise the pot by a maximum of $120 only.
However, this doesn’t mean that the player cannot raise the pot by anything lesser than the pot-amount. This merely means that the pot amount cannot be exceeded by a player when s/he is making the raise.
