A live game has two meanings in the world of poker. The first one refers to a game that is being played live, i.e. in person. This is opposed to the concept of video poker or online poker where the players are involved in a game that occurs in a virtual environment.

The second meaning refers to a more direct meaning of the word “live” and means “lively. Any game where the actions are coming thick & fast is known as a live game. This is a common occurrence when the players are amateurs and that leads to fast paced betting and an unstable game.
