A laydown is a decision to fold, made by a player who has a strong hand. It is mostly carried out in anticipation that the player has a strong hand but the opponents, still in the game, are holding something stronger in their hands. The laydown comes only as a form of saving oneself from betting in more on what is a strong hand, but definitely not a winning hand.
