Final table
The final table is often the most important table in a multi-table poker tournament. The term final table only comes into use when there are a number of tables with a lot of players playing. This usually happens when there are a lot of players playing in a particular tournament, over the number of players that can be fit on one single table, i.e. usually 10.
The players continue to play on their tables until there is just enough space to fit all the remaining players onto one table. Since these tournaments normally have 10 people to a table, the players will not shift until only 10 players remain in the competition.
For e.g. consider a tournament with 50 players playing on five tables, i.e. 10 to a table. Table one sees 7 players eliminated while 7 have been eliminated from table two as well. 8 have been eliminated from tables three and four while table five still has all 10 players in the game. In such a case, the players remaining on tables one, two, three & four, i.e. 3, 3, 2, & 2 respectively are all shifted to a common table while the 10 players on five continue to play on normally.
After table five loses, say 8 people and the combined table (say table 6) loses 2, all the players can be combined together and made to sit around the final table, which is now host to the last 10 players in the tournament.
There is no fee or charge for a player to be shifted from one table to another and the player continues with her/his winnings which can be beneficial especially if her/his table has finished earlier than the other table where the game is still evenly matched. Thus players can come in with large chip stacks or even small ones, depending on the state of their table when they are moved.
