Closed
In poker, a round is said to have been closed when everybody foregoes their right to raise the bet by either choose to fold or by simply calling. When the round goes a full circle and returns to the player who had raised the pot in the first place, without any raises in the middle, then the betting round is said to have come to a stop or is said to be closed.
The player who made the original raise cannot re-raise the amount unless some other player has raised the pot in the before her/him. There is another criteria for closing a round, which happens before the round actually ends. This sort of a closing occurs when there are players who still have to act on the round but since their last raise was a sub-minimum all-in raise, they are no longer entitled to making any further raises.
This situation also comes up if the maximum limit for raises in a game, the cap on raises, is reached, which means that the players cannot make more raises.
In other forms of poker, the term closed is also used to describe a game where the cards held by each player are not visible to the other players until the showdown. This is a common practice and almost all forms of poker, baring a few variations, follow this rule of distributing cards. Stud poker, on the other hand, is an open game where some of the cards dealt to the players are dealt with the face up.
