Catch is an expression that is used by players when talking about receiving particular cards on a draw. At times when a player requires a particular card to complete a strong hand on a draw, s/he is known to use the expression of trying to “catch” that particular card. The context of usage is on the lines of “catching a fish”, except in the world of cards.

If a person has a hand that has 4-7-9-7 in a game of community card poker and hopes of “catching” a 7 or 9 on the draw, then the expression is normally used.
