In the world of poker, especially in Casinos, a brush is an employee who is given the job of welcoming people coming to play poker, in the casino’s poker room. The brush is also responsible for maintaining a list of people who are waiting to get into the room and get a chance to play.

Once an opportunity opens up and a seat gets empty, the Brush is responsible for announcing the open seat and also brushing off the poker tables and prepare it for the games to come. That is also, partly, the reason why the particular position got the name, Brush.

As part of the Brush’s job responsibilities, s/he also has to look for players to join into the game and it is only this portion that differentiates the Brush’s job responsibilities from that of a maitre d’ at a restaurant.
