Blind off, blinded
This situation normally occurs in a game when the player needs to get up from the table temporarily, in the middle of playing a hand. Blind off is similar to ante off where, once the player leaves the table, her/his turn is played for, by the other players, in the form of a blind hand that is simply added to the pot.
This is normally used in a tournament to force a player, not at the table temporarily, to continue paying blinds, antes or other forced bets to keep the game moving along. This is also carried out to ensure that the game remains fair for all the other players on the table.
Being blinded is a term that comes into play when the absent player is in danger of losing her/his entire stack in these compulsory blind offs. If a player has been “blinded”, then it means that the entire stack for the absent player was emptied into the pot at her/his designated turn on each cycle.
