Bankroll
A bankroll is actually the amount of money, that any player possess for wager in his/her poker career. Basically the total amount of money that a player has as playing capital is known as bankroll.
Sometime, also a player who has a lot of cash, or even chips in hand is known as a bankroll. Still another definition of bankroll would be, when a person provides backing for another player, i.e. when a person puts in money for another player, or even more than one players, it is said to be a bankroll.
So the bankroll is the total money a player has to gamble with. Now this is not the same as a player’s stake in one particular game. Some professional poker players, maintain a separate bankroll for poker.
An example of usage would be, “After playing in the tournament, she has doubled her bankroll”. It is also a common practice for people to bankroll other players, i.e. give them money to gamble with, in return for a share of the profits they make in the game.
It is not necessary that the player’s bankroll is all of his money, it can be provided by other people as well. So a bankroll is not a player’s personal financial worth, but the amount of money that s/he has set aside for the purpose of gambling only.
In the case of online poker, the bankroll is the money left in the account of a player. S/he may participate in many games, but the bankroll remains the same, which is the total money in the player’s account, which is used solely for gambling.
